News about Lighthouse Children’s Shelter

We received word from our colleagues, David and Janis Betzer (co-founders of LCS) that there is reason for celebration.  The City of Rustenburg has deeded 9 hectares (about 23 acres) to LCS!  Praise God for His provision!!

Our goal from the beginning of LCS was to develop the property LCS currently occupies into light industrial property and then move LCS over to the new property.  The light industrial property will help sustain the ministry of LCS on the new property.

LCS has been operating at full capacity since January, 2005 and has had to turn children away.  This new property will allow LCS to care for more children in crisis due to the HIV/AIDS pandemic.  It will also allow for other ministry development such as in caring for pregnant HIV+ mothers who have no other place to live.  An international church will also be built on this new property with David Betzer as pastor.

LCS is 4 years old and it was 3 years ago that we met with the Mayor of Rustenburg to request property for expansion.  This has been a long process, at times, seemingly a futile process.  God is the way maker!

Two Graduations and One Marriage

The end of April and first part of May were very busy times for the Peercy family.  We traveled to Florida for two very important occasions in Caleb’s life.  Caleb graduated cum laude from Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL on April 30, 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance.  The following Saturday, May 7, 2005 Caleb married his fiancĂ©e,  Amanda Torres of Orlando, FL.  Amanda is a beautiful Christian woman that Caleb met while enrolled at Southeastern University.  Amanda is a graduate of Southeastern with a degree in Social Services and has her Masters from the University of Central Florida.  They are residing in the Orlando area.

On May, 19, 2005, Malachi graduated from First Assembly Christian Academy in Lafayette, IN.  He plans to attend Ivy Tech State College in Lafayette this fall to get his basic courses “under his belt” before transferring to Central Bible College in Springfield, MO to pursue a major in Missions.

Please continue to pray for the newlyweds and Malachi in their new pursuits.
